Had an amazing time at the cottage. My wife cannot believe I organised it! I have come back and told friends and family that they have to do it. Lovely cottage with no expenses spared on crockery, bed linen etc. We hardly went out as the fire and the cottage was so nice. We didn't want to leave
Thank you again. We will be visiting again.

12-19 November 2011

Thank you for the wine and biscuits on arrival. The cottage is lovely and the decor and finishing touches are really homely. Golant is a lovely village, it's so peaceful and quiet. We couldn't leave without putting something about our stay. Saturday - warm and sunny - Arrived at the cottage in the afternoon. We didn't really do much but did venture into Tywardreath and had the best fish and chips from the Thai takeaway/fish and chip shop just as you get into the village on the right. Problem was that it didn't open until 5pm so we were forced (yes forced) to go into the local pub for a pint of St Austell Trelawny beer. Forget Doombar, Trelawny is the one to go for. We also booked for Sunday lunch in the Fisherman's Arms, it gets busy so you need to book. Sunday - sunny :) AM took a walk into Fowey on the Saints Way. Most of the shops were closed but we arrived in time for the Memorial Service. Picked up a couple of Chelsea buns from Niles bakery (first of many ... yum yum) PM SUNDAY LUNCH a must from the Fisherman's Arms (especially after a walk) washed it all down with a pint of Betty Stoggs another good local beer. Monday - overcast - AM a walk up Church Hill and then on to Castle Dore across country - well worth it. PM Trip to St Austell for a spot of shopping and a massive slice of toffee and apple cake from  another Niles Bakery just by the new shopping centre (yum yum again). St Austell has a large Tesco and massive ASDA super store just on the A390if you need some bits. Tuesday - cloudy and windy - Trip to Mevagissey. Unfortunately being off season it was mostly closed. We took the coastal path to Pentewan to find that closed too. However one of the local pubs opened early so we could get a coffee. Wednesday - rained out - We were going to the Eden Project after picking up some bits from Asda. However, being November, we only discovered that it closes early when it was too late. So we booked a tour around St Austell Brewery instead, definately worth a visit (especially for the free samples ...) Thursday - sunny intervals - Ferry to Bodinnick to do the Hall Walk. However this was a bit short for us so we headed off through field and hedgerow to pick up the coastal path back to Polruan, there isn't much in Polruan but the walk is well worth it (more Chelsea buns from Fowey for the trip back) Friday - sunny/windy - a day of walking. We parked at the national Trust Coombe Farm carpark and headed off cross country to Par beach. The scenery was amazing. Once at Par beach we headed back on the South West Coastal path and had a bite to eat by the Gribbin Head Lighthouse. From there the route back to the car took us past a beautiful reservoir at Polridmouth which feeds into the sea. About 8.5 miles in total but well worth it. Saturday - last day - Over all fantastic holiday, minus the one day of rain the weather was fab considering it was November. We loved it, definitely coming back. Dale and Lauren :)

22nd October 2011

We have had a lovely four days or so down here in your perfect cottage - so homely and we lit the fire most nights which was just perfect for the drizzly nights!! We have stayed along this coastline many times and have stopped to have lunch, this is the first time to Golant. Absolutely lovely place and had the weather been more kind to us our kayaks would have been used!! Despite the very wet weather we have had a relaxing few days with days out to Eden Project, Truro, Fowey and Looe on the way home. We have loved the walks and The Fisherman's Arms. Thank you for the biscuits, a lovely touch! We wll be back, we loved it!! Yvonne and Ray

15 - 22 October 2011 I've had an absolutely great week here in this lovely cottage, and shall be sad to leave. I, and some of my family, have been coming down to Golant for many years now and it is truly a wonderful place. The dry weather has enabled me to go out and paint every day. I really appreciated the wine and shortbread - that was a very nice welcome. Hope to be able to revisit. Rod

(Rod sent us (Cris and Paul) one of his fantastic paintings of the river as a postcard, what a wonderful gift, thank you :)

5 Nov 2010   Morning Cris, I just wanted to drop you a note to say how wonderful we thought your cottage was! The attention to detail throughout the cottage is a credit to you, if anything the photos on your website do not do it justice!! Also may I add that the service you offer throughout is first class, we tend to do one short break a year within the UK and never have we had someone so pleased to have our booking! It's a real USP for you!  I'm sure we will be back in touch to return! Best wishes, Richard

24-31 July 2010
17-24 July 2010 Not really very good at these things but didn't want to be the first to miss a week out so here goes. Arrived Saturday 6ish, unpacked then strolled down to the Fisherman's Arms for food and a couple of drinks - very good. Sunday, drove to supermarket in St Austell for supplies then back to Sky Cottage (which we loved by the way). Walked into Fowey and spent the day strolling around the town and a river trip up the Fowey. Ate at the King of Prussia - very good food - before heading back to Sky on foot - didn't seem as far coming back! Monday - took the ferry to Mevagissey from Fowey - good trip but got a bit wet from the waves. Mevagissey was lovely - shopped a lot!! Tuesday - the heavens opened and it didn't stop all day long so along with the rest of Cornwall we visited the Eden Project - we have been before but were just as impressed. Wednesday - visited Heligan - always wanted to go but for some reason never quite made it on previous visits - loved it! Left about 3.30 and took in St Mawes - nice, before heading back. Portloe for tea at the Ship Inn. Thursday - being National Trust members, had to try at least one. It was Lanhydrock and was good. House very interesting Victorian and gardens a nice mix of formal and informal. On from there to Bodmin then on to Jamaica Inn for food before heading back to Sky. So - here we are at Friday already - Healeys Cider Farm at Penhallow first then lots of "cornish lanes" to Lostwithiel, Lerryn and Polruan. Now sitting in the garden at Sky with the sun just coming round to warm me, and Peter has just gone in to get me a glass of wine. We'll eat in the cottage tonight then stroll down for a last visit to the Fisherman's Arms before packing up to be ready to be on our way tomorrow. Thanks for a lovely holiday. Anne and Peter
10-17 July 2010 We've had such a lovely, busy week here that we've barely had time to write here yet so this is just a quick note before we rush off! Thanks so much for the use of the lovely cottage, the bed is extremely comfy and the shower amazing too! The wine and biscuits were much appreciated after our long journey too! We visited The Eden project which we'd really recommend as well as wandered around Fowey, St Austell, Lostwithiel and Par Sands. The weather hasn't been perfect but we've been lucky in that when we went to any little beaches, the sun came out for a little bit. Readymoney Cove near Fowey was particularly nice with a nice walk up the cliffs to St Catherine's Castle. We wanted to take the ferry to Mevagissey yesterday but unfortunately the weather was too bad and boats weren't running so instead we took the ferry across to Polruan and walked up the footpath to the stunning views from the cliffs. For anyone looking for the supermarket, head for St Austell and there is a 24 hour Tesco and Asda on the way, about 15 minutes drive from Sky Cottage. There's also a little cinema in St Austell for any rainy days! Thanks again, we had a lovely and relaxing week! x Kay and Carl x
3-10 July 2010 Day One:- For anyone that hasn't had the pleasure of taking the train from Paddington, I would highly recommend this experience. 4 1/2 hours to kick back and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way down! When arriving at the village we were stunned at how beautiful it was. And the cottage was just perfect! We instantly felt that we escaped the business of London life, and could now finally begin to unwind. The first evening we had dinner at The Fisherman;s Arms. We were greeted with warmth from the staff and local people. The food was tasty as well. I had to have a pasty and was not disappointed. We were advised to book a table and sat outside as it was such a beautiful evening and with a wonderful view. Day Two:- Unfortunately we were not blessed with great weather so we decided to go and have an explore around Fowey, 15 minutes drive from Sky Cottage. We enjoyed the view from the hillside over the harbour and yet another pasty. Day Three:- Yeah, the sun came out for us today! We headed to Carlyon Bay Beach. Great views out to sea, but unfortunately a building site behind. Still we soaked up some rays and dared to paddle in the freezing water. For the evening we met some friends in Fowey and enjoyed a glass of very delicious wine on the harbour, from the Quayside Inn and a really enjoyable meal at Sam's. Day Four:- Again the sun was shining today so we headed to the beach (well 3 beaches) Par, Readymoney and Polkerris where we enjoyed a lunch at Sam's on the Beach. Day Five:- As I have a complete obsession with wildlife, we decided to head to an animal sanctuary today and then to the town of Looe and then Polperro. Polperro was very pretty, with a really traditional feel. We enjoyed a cream tea at the Plantation cafe and a walk up the cliff to take in the views of the bay. Day Six:- We drove back to Fowey and took a trip by ferry across to Mevagissey. We had an average lunch but really enjoyed a walk up to the cliff and relaxed whilst enjoying the views. Day seven:- Drove to Truro and had a great lunch at The Old Grammar School. finished off the week with a final meal at The Fisherman's Arms. Thank you so much for a lovely week and beautiful environment at Sky Cottage. We really have completely relaxed. xx Lee and Helen xx
26 June - 1 July 2010 Dear Cris and Paul, Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. We didn't want to leave - ever! We will definitely be back as there just wasn't enough time to do everything that we wanted to. We have had fabulous weather for the majority of the week, with just a little drizzle on Monday. The highlights of the week were visiting the Minnack Theatre to see a performance of West Side Story - fabulous. Should you wish to see a show, make sure you book tickets in plenty of time. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed our final meal out at Sam's on the Beach. The food was fabulous and the staff very friendly - what a perfect setting! We also walked along Saints Way to Fowey, visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown, Bodmin Moor and there is so much more that we'd like to do. We'll be back! Shelly and Jooles x
20-26 June 2010 Just come to the end of a fabulous week at Sky Cottage. It's such a gorgeous cottage and really has felt like a home from home! The weather has been beautifully sunny all week for us and we have breakfasted on the patio each morning. Eden was a big highlight for us being plant lovers - the Rainforest Biome was amazing - take sun cream! Don't bother with cream tea here though! While on cream teas, The Dwelling House, Fowey was by far the best we've had, lovely home-made scones and an impressive selection of teas - we had some Cornish tea! Good for dinner was the Crown Inn, Lanlivery, Sam's on the Beach - Polkerris, The Lugger - Fowey (biggest tastiest portion of mussels ever) Fifteen - Watergate Bay (if you feel like splashing out, it's worth it!) And of course The Fisherman's Arms in Golant. The best/most scenic beach for us was at Bedruthan Steps between Padstow and Newquay - very unspoilt by tourism. The neighbours recommended the kayaking tour along the river up by Lerryn - unfortunately they were fully booked. Other highlights for us were The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The tall ships at Charlestown - we were there late afternoon and saw them coming in. The Fowey River Cruise. Tintagel Castle. The little aquarium in Fowey and The Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. Also the Cornish Orchards Cider near Looe is great - you can taste all the different ciders - we spent a small fortune there! We've had a wonderful week here and shall recommend Sky Cottage to friends. I'm sure we'll be back, there is so much to do in the area, we just couldn't cram it all into one week! Dave and Kathryn. PS Thank you so much for the welcome gifts and card, a lovely surprise. PPS Kathryn loves your shower!
12-19 June 2010 This is our third stay at Sky Cottage! As always it has been a wonderful break. We've always been fortunate enough to have good weather and this week has been no exception, with breakfast in the garden each morning with the accompanying birdsong. We've done our usual things, a couple of visits to the beach at Caarhays, a visit to Trerice House on the North Coast, but mainly just lots of relaxation and enjoying the peace and quiet offered by this district. We can't add much to the ideas for places to eat. We love Trethewans in Lostwithiel and the Cormorant Hotel, the pub on the beach at Polkerris and of course the fish and chips from Tywardreath in front of the telly to watch England! The cottage is perfect and the wine and biscuits much appreciated! Wendy and Peter
5-12 June 10  What a beautiful cottage - the pictures on the website don't do it justice. We loved the little gardena dn have had barbeques and breakfast on the patio listening to the birds. There are blue tits nesting in the roof above the front door and we've watched the parents tirelessly feeding the chicks - just a shame we won't see them fledge. Watch out for the cheeky robin who hopped into the lounge and makes regular visits to the garden. The weather has been mixed but on two of the damp/wetter days we went walking - one day to Fowey and back where we had great crab ciabattas in the King of Prussia, and another where we took the ferry to Polruan, did the Hill Walk and had amazing steak and stilton pies at the Old Ferry Inn at Bodinnick. We went to Eden but were a little disappointed. However, a late lunch at the Pine Lodge Gardens (turkey and bacon pie) was a delight - (Cuddra near the junction A390 and A39). Having spent holidays in this part of the world many years ago, we were very pleased that Polperro and Fowey remain largely unchanged. We stocked up on our food supplies in Fowey and would highly recommend Kinnows especially for bacon and sausages. We've been to Cotehele today, and although the house was closed we spent a whole day wandering around the quay, the gardens and the mill. Unfortunately they weren't actually milling but none the less we've bought some flour to make bread once we get home. And so our week is ending and our journey back to Liverpool beckons. But not before tonight's meal in the Fisherman's Arms and no doubt a mug or two of ale. (By the way, we have tested all the local brews and our favourite is Doombar). We are in no rush to leave and the next guests may find us stowed away under the bed! Thank you for allowing us to stay. Si and Dee

PS. The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch and much appreciated.

Just a short note to thank you for the use of Sky Cottage for our holiday last week. We found the cottage to be an absolute delight and far outweighed our expectations, so much so we didn't want to come home. We had a fabulous holiday re-exploring all the old haunts that Si remembered from his youth. And of course sampling all the local foods and ales!
Thanks also for the wine & biscuits which were much appreciated. Best Regards

29 May - 5 June 2010
We've had a lovely week in Sky Cottage, thank you for the warm welcome of wine and biscuits. We've eaten well but hope we've walked most of it off throughout the week!
We did some lovely walks, some from the Blue ' country walks in and around Fowey' booklet on the window sill in Sky Cottage.
Walk 11 is Lerryn - St Winnow, although we did a slight variation stopping for a very tasty burger at St Winnow's farm, served from a caravan. All the meat is reared on the farm, also tasty homemade cakes, cold/hot drinks and ice-creams.
Walk 3 - starting at Polkerris - v good chocolate brownies at the Polkadot cafe. Walked to the red and white day - mark at Gribbin Head and on to Polridmouth, then a detour back round to the car at Polkerris. We then walked the last part of the walk in reverse from Fowey to Polridmouth Beach and back the following day via St Catherine's Castle and Readymoney Beach. We also enjoyed the very pretty walk through woods and fields from Golant to Fowey and back.
We visited both the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. We thoroughly recommend Heligan which we preferred over the Eden Project, but perhaps that was due to the half terms crowds.
Food:
Tasty light lunch at Pinky's cafe with a retro/chilled atmosphere.
Delicious evening meal At Tiffin's, beautiful asparagus starter and mussels in garlic.
Tasty lasagne and steak and chips At the Fisherman's arms (v good aerial photo on the wall near front entrance)
V good Thai takeaway from Sala Thai in Tywardreath.
V good cream tea at Coombe farm £4.50 on walk back from Polridmouth to Readymoney Beach .
All in all we've had a really wonderful and relaxing holiday and are definitely sad to be heading back to London so soon. We hope to return sometime but until then, thanks to Cris and Paul for letting us stay in Sky Cottage. Alex and Matt
15 - 29 May 2010
We drove ... What? 700 miles? Arriving at Sky Cottage was worth every mile driven on the wrong side of the road (for us). As it was early evening we decided to have supper at the local inn. Very friendly reception and good food too! Our first days here were spent locally visiting Fowey, Looe, St Austell, etc. It's all so picturesque but driving on the small roads demands some concentration (smiley face)
Sky Cottage is a little dream come true. I like what you did in combining the old with the new - most obvious is the bathroom. And the bed sleeps like something fantastic - always important when one is away from home. During our second week we made day trips to St Ives, Newquay, Padstow (the Rick Stein experience!) For the most part of our stay we enjoyed fantastic weather too!
Finest cream tea at Tiffin's in Fowey. Great Sunday roast in the hotel at Charlestown harbour. In fact we never had a bad meal anywhere. So thanks Cris, a big thank you for this great little cottage. We should come back some time . Yves and Chantal from Belgium
10-14 May 2010
What a fabulous cottage - you've obviously given the contents a lot of thought. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't always co-operated, but you can't have everything. We arrived on Monday, via Castle Drogo, and had a lovely meal out at The Fisherman's Arms. Very friendly people. Tuesday, we spent at the Eden Project, well worth the visit, followed by Lanhydrock House. Well, you have to get your moneys worth out of the NT! We went to the King of Prussia for our evening meal. The fish and chips was great, but Alan has promoted the chicken stew to one of his most memorable meals!
Wednesday we walked to Fowey along the Saints way, which was lovely. We can recommend Kiddows Cornish Pasties, which we had to protect from marauding seagulls! After a quick trip to Polruan, we got the bus back to Castledore - being in possession of a bus pass has it's advantages! And walked down the hill in a hailstorm (yes), followed by torrential rain. We went to Charlestown - you must go to the Shipwreck and Heritage Museum! It's the weirdest place and seems to have no rhyme or reason to many exhibits. We ate at Tiffin's - yum! Thursday we went to Mevagissey on the ferry (lovely weather) hen had a fab cream tea in The Dwelling House. Afraid we have to leave today but we'll be back! It's a great place and there's so much more to do. Thanks Cris and Paul. We appreciate your hospitality. Alan and Margaret
1-8 May 10
Cris - thanks very much for the lovely welcome at Sky Cottage (wine and cookies) . We've had a great week. We started off by doing a Seafood School course in Padstow (booked for John's 40th) - great fun and has inspired us to cool more fish. It's been a veritable feast of fine food and sights. Sam's in Fowey highly recommend, The Cormorant - delightful fine dining and scenic views. Today we finally walked into Fowey along the beautiful pathway lined with bluebells and wild garlic - yum. Visited the superb Eden Project (a must do) and Minack Theatre (the story of how it was built is quite an inspiration). Still have loads we'd love to do but must go home tomorrow - sigh. This is such a lovely spot in Cornwall - will hope to return. Thanks again - cottage great. Diane and John Watford, Herts.
Recommend : for Breakfast - Toll inn, Fowey, Beach Hut, Watergate Bay (below 'Is') Coffee to die for - barista entered the world coffee making championships! For Cream Tea - Charlestown overlooking harbour - or anywhere, you can't go wrong! For supermarkets - Tesco St Austell on A390
For thoughts and contemplation - Minack Theatre and exhibition, Views from Fisherman's Arms, Beer Garden. For special occasion dinner - the Cormorant, Golant
Wish we had time for - deep sea fishing from Looe; boat trip to Polruan; more walking

18-24 April

We loved Sky Cottage, a last-minute booking when we couldn't catch our flight to Malta thanks to the volcano in Iceland. We've been incredibly lucky with the weather and are almost glad we didn't make our flight! Sky Cottage is perfect for two - the patio is a sun-trap during the day and the cottage is very cosy in the evening - we especially enjoyed the wood-burner. Also the bed is very comfortable - we slept very well. We recommend Tiffin's Brasserie in Fowey in the evening, great food and friendly service. There's a great deal to do nearby: if fine, Lanhydrock and Restormel wont disappoint, and we'd recommend hiring a boat at Fowey and taking it up river for a look at Golant from the water. The Dwelling House at Fowey is a delight, their High Tea in particular is fantastic. The Old Quay House, however, was a disappointment. There are some great alternatives in the village, not least the aforementioned Tiffin's. We can also vouch for the fish and chip shop next to the Co-op in Lostwithiel.

10-17 April

This is our first holiday together in Cornwall and we feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful cottage, it's so homely and cosy. The weather has been brilliant all week, so we could enjoy the beautiful walk along the All Saint Way to Fowey. We recommend cycling along the camel trail from Wadebridge into Padstow and also recommend Polkerris beach. We will recommend the village of Golant to our friends and family to come and visit and we plan on returning to Sky Cottage as soon as possible. Thank you, Emma and Mike.

5-10 April   This was our second very enjoyable stay at Sky Cottage. Thank you very much for the welcome gifts, lovely. We visited Padstow, Port Isaac, Mevagissey and had a very 'posh' cream tea at the Tresant Hotel, St Mawes - delish! Sunbathed on beach at St Ives on last day - the weather has been fantastic. Did the walk from cottage into Fowey - muddy but well worthwhile, thank you very much. Ann and John . PS lovely telly.

2-5 April 10   We are so happy to have found Sky Cottage, home from home. Very comfortable. Don't rely on your SATNAV ...Ha Ha. Anna and Doug

24-31 March 10    We had an absolutely fantastic time - despite the weather's plans -  thank you very much. The cottage is beautiful, as is the setting. We will definitely be back! Thanks again,

13-20 March 10   We have really enjoyed our week at Sky Cottage. It is very well equipped and comfortable. We were pretty lucky with the weather as no rain until Thursday lunchtime and lots of sun earlier in the week. We have done various sections of coastal path - highlight was 3 hour walk Polkerris - Gribbin Head and round to Fowey then back to complete the circuit on the Saints Way. Explored Mevagissey, Fowey, Polperro and Looe. Cotehele National Trust Property is one of the jewels in the NT crown - very little changed since Tudor times; we did this on our wet day. It was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, Thank you, Chris and Norah

1 March 10   All packed and ready to leave the sun is out again! We have had rain at night and sunny days, let's hope that pattern continues for the rest of the year, Lynn and Andy.

13-20 Feb 10   We had such an enjoyable week in this beautiful cottage which is just perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding countryside. The place has been done so well and the details were all very much appreciated so thank you. Highlights were Golant itself - beautiful meals in great settings at Fifteen and in Padstow, a great day of driving down to St Mawes, Lizard, Porthleven and Mousehole as well as more locally Fowey and Polruan, all must do's. We were also blessed with mainly beautiful sunny if a little cold, days, perfect for walks and lots of afternoon teas and scones. We will return to London heavier but happier having discovered this fantastic place, Thanks again Chris and Susie.

31 Jan 10   We have just returned from a long weekend ourselves, installing a new TV with DVD and integral freeview - hope you like it. There are always a few jobs for us, but never chores! We had a fantastic Saturday evening in the Fisherman's Arms where there was a 'murder mystery' night - hilarious! Fish pie and Doombar went down well too! Paul says he's topped up again for a month or two! We had the most wonderful sunshine, gardening obviously, and the moon on the ripple free river in the frosty evening was breathtaking. Plotting our next visit already, and hope you are too! Love Cris and Paul

December 09

Dear Cris & Paul,
Thank you so much for your Christmas wishes, we both had a wonderful break in your delightful cottage. The log fire and supply of logs was much appreciated, together with all the lovely homely touches you have put in the cottage.
We enjoyed seeing Cornwall out of season and only had one very wet day!! We certainly got around, Truro, Falmouth, East Looe and of course The Eden project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan where we had a huge Sunday roast one to be recommended.
We will be back and would love to see Cornwall in the late spring to see the Azaleas and Rhododendrons particularly at Heligan. So we will be in touch. Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. Kind Regards

5th - 12th Dec 2009
Alan and Suzanne
We arrived in the pouring rain to discover this wonderful quiet haven. The cottage more than surpassed our expectations and we have enjoyed the peace and tranquility of Golant in the winter.
Found many Xmas bargains in the shops at Fowey and Truro, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Thank you for the wine and cookies and of course the logs for our evenings by the fire.

Nov 20-23rd
Colin and Mary  Only here for the weekend, but have enjoyed the peace and quiet, and log fire!! Lovely cottage, will be back.

17-21 Oct
Had a great time, lovely little village, sweet cottage very nicely done, love the boat theme. Thanks for the wine and cookies. Visits - Eden project (of course). Loved Fowey and the Ship Inn. Nice meal at the Crown - Lanlivery. Must try Fisherman's Arms for good food and very friendly. At the bottom of hill, in village. Weather has been fairly good (smiley). Ps local shop needed in village. Nearest shop - up the hill to main road, cross over the cross roads and keep going to next village, Tywardreath, Londis shop on right about 2 miles total.

10 - 17 Oct
We have had a wonderful week at Sky Cottage. The weather has been great - warm, blue sky and no rain! We visited the Eden Project, Fowey, Mevagissey, Boscastle, Tintagel and Charlestown. (Charlie's tea room in Charlestown is worth a visit - fantastic cake!)
We will recommend Sky Cottage. Thanks, Claire and Simon

3rd - 10th Oct 2009
The weather has not been quite so kind to us this year, however we've still had a great week! We're still finding new walks and places to visit. Many thanks for another lovely stay, don't want to go home. Julie and Garry

27 Sept - 3 Oct 2009
Sad to leave, we have had a great 6 days. No rain but no blue sky. First time we have not sat outside for breakfast in the sun and we couldn't try the new chairs. Walked every day, from Bodmin Point to Gorran Haven, was stunning but the sea was like a silvery mirror, hardly a ripple and not a hint of blue. Lansallos to Polperro is great but a bit more strenuous, but the chips sitting in the harbour before you walk back taste good.
We had the perfect meal at Margot's in Padstow, we paid £13 for 2 hot chocs and tea cakes at the Blue Tomato which seemed a bit high, we had fun meals at Sam's Polkerris and an average one at Tiffin's. Sad to leave, Mike and Cilla

Late September
I have lost track of the date - we have had a wonderful time again. We had a day out in Padstow/Rock - just off the A389 turn off @ St Issey, drive to the car park - FREE and walk 2.5 miles along the old railway track, the track is gone - it's a path and flat walk. We got the ferry to Rock for lunch in Blue Tomato cafe. Wonderful food. If Cris and Paul ever want to sell Sky - just call me, love this place! Lynn and Andy xx

12-19 Sept 09
After having tried a saving holiday in July based in Weymouth a holiday that saw rain, rain and more rain! We decided to take a late booking this time on land. Couldn't believe our luck! A cottage just to our liking, a village that welcomed us and weather quite superb.
Lovely walk, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks for the welcoming drink. Will recommend. Brian and Christine

5-12 Sept 09
What can I say? What a beautiful place Golant is. The cottage was excellent and I really don't want to go home tomorrow! Thank you so much for the welcome gift, it was a really unexpected and lovely touch!
We visited the Eden Project, Polperro, Padstow, Fowey and loved them all. Also visited Newquay - Hmm! Not for us, far to 'busy' for want of a better term! We have had fabulous weather apart from a couple of grey days but outstanding for the time of year! We did the walk to Fowey and back! Tiring but worth it.
While we were here, TV went digital so we have lost a lot of channels. Also TV upstairs seems to only play videos since the changeover. But who need TV here? Far too much to do ... A fantastic week! Julie and Rod, from Brentford

Cris has since retuned both TV's and installed new digibox upstairs so perfect TV has been resumed!

Sept 09

Just had to let you know what a fabulous time we had last week in Sky cottage! We were so lucky with the weather. Where did that come from? After the Summer we've all had! It was fantastic! Just had two 'grey' days but didn't spoil a thing. It was great for us to relive our childhood by visiting places we'd been to as children. I'd go as far as to say, its one of the best holidays we've had! Our last holiday in this country was in 1982 on our honeymoon, and that was Cornwall too, though Helston way, so this was a different area.

Once again, thank you so much for providing a lovely cottage for our holiday. We couldn't fault a thing.

27Aug-3 Sept 09
Thank you very much for the delicatessen awaiting us on arrival! Very comfortable and pretty cottage : we unfortunately have not been able to enjoy the garden (barbeque and breakfast) as we would have wished to, regarding the weather and its generous heavy showers throughout our stay. This is our 3rd time in this very part of Cornwall and not our last (we hope!) Busy doing our researches on family history (family left St Winnow/Lerryn to Canada and Chile) Sky Cottage was a very nice haven and Cris so warm and welcoming on the phone! Loved the Dwelling House Tea Room in Fowey. Patricia x and Victor x (France).

10-20 Aug 09
We had looked forward to this break for months and it did not disappoint. We loved Sky Cottage - so tranquil and romantic. Thanks so much for the welcoming gifts - so thoughtful. We enjoyed visits to Fowey, Polkerris Beach, Port Isaac, Camel Trail (rode 27 miles on bikes!), Padstow, Boscastle, Bude, Looe, Jamaica Inn, Carlyon Beach and Mevagissey. Bought three lovely pictures for our own house, as we are about to move. Going home now to recreate Sky's bathroom in our new place! We hope we will be back. Ann and John x

1-10 Aug 09
We've had a great holiday in a lovely cottage and enjoyed the treats waiting for us on our arrival - thank you. Highlights for us were : Nathan Outlaw restaurant. Polkerris beach and Sam's on the beach. Camel Valley Vineyard. Afternoon tea in the gardens at the Front of the Fowey Hotel. Port Isaac. The Dwelling House in Fowey. Cormorant Hotel in Golant for dinner. Lerryn
We have found the cottage a relaxing little haven. Vanessa and Ian (Manchester).

27 June - 11 July 09
We have been lucky enough to spend two weeks in this very relaxing village. The cottage is so well equipped and very comfortable. Our first week in Cornwall was a scorcher, we visited a different beach each day, (Rock, Polkerris, Crantock, Menabilly, Gorran Haven), even went swimming.
There are so many beautiful walks, Golant to Fowey, Boddinick to Polruan. These were much needed to walk off all the food we've been eating. So many good pubs and restaurants. Sam's on the Beach at Polkerris was special. Pinky Murphy's in Fowey nice for lunch, Crown Inn - best lamb ever. We came to Golant tired and stressed, leaving relaxed and chilled. Thank you so much. We have had a wonderful holiday. Keith and Jane.

20-27 June 09
We've had a great week at Sky Cottage. The weather has been fabulous and we have managed to fit loads in. Our trip to the Eden Project was brilliant and is definitely worth a visit. The walk to Fowey was great and once we got there we had plenty to do. A trip out on the Fowey Marine Adventurer was great, even though we didn't get to see the basking sharks spotted earlier that day. We recommend Food for Thought, Sam's, Pinky Murphy's and The Dwelling House (best cream tea ever!). In all the food and service were superb. We had two lovely meals at the Fisherman's Arms and found Golant a beautiful and friendly village. Thank you very much for all the little welcoming touches, we have loved staying here. Katy and Ben.

13-20 June 09

Yet another great week! Sky Cottage is starting to feel a bit like coming home. Have had pretty good weather except for two torrential downpours that managed to get past some serious waterproofs. We have managed to do all the usual walks and pubs and sitting in the sun watching the world go by eating their chips and ice-cream and loved every minute. Try the new Sam's at Polkerris, service and wait can be a bit iffy but the food and atmosphere make up for it. Arrived really needing a holiday, sad to be leaving and plotting when we can come back. Mike and Cilla

6-13 June
Fabulous cottage, we've slept so well! The pub is very friendly and welcoming, we feel like locals already. We've been to Polperro, Looe, Charlestown, Fowey (via the walk through the woods) Tintagel, Boscastle and Bossiney Cave. We also went to Bodmin Railway for Andy's birthday. Thank you so much for the added touches and especially for Andy's birthday card ....nice touch! We managed to dodge the rain, but not the seagulls, they stole Andy's pasty in Polperro. Karen and Andy xxx

30 May - 6 June 09
What a glorious week we have just had at Sky Cottage. The weather has been amazing and Sky Cottage is even nicer than we had hoped (the pictures on the website do not do it justice). The village is very picturesque and the pub is a great spot to sit and admire the view. Would recommend Sam's in Polkerris for a meal or drink on the beach whilst watching the sun go down. The Other Place in Fowey for a great fish dinner - Padstow, St Ives, Newquay, Eden Project, Perranporth beach is a must! Mevagissey, Polperro and Polruan are also lovely. Thank you so much Cris and Paul! Amber has been so happy this week - she has loved it! Lauren, Jon and Amber xx

June 09 - by email

Hi Cris,

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Sky Cottage and just wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage! We couldn't have dreamed for better weather - every day was brilliant sunshine apart from today, but we where coming home anyway so thought it was quite funny! We have only just got back and have found ourselves looking at the pictures on the website again already - they do not do the place justice! Amber has been so happy this week - she really has loved it We have just been looking at your other place in Looe!.... maybe next year (and now booked!) Thanks again, Lauren, Jon and Amber

28 May 09
We've enjoyed a lovely short break here at Sky Cottage. Hearty fish pie at the Ship Inn at Fowey, leisurely ferry ride from St Mawes to Falmouth and endless wonderful scenery along the coast. Felt very at home, thanks, Molly and Tony

9 - 16 May
We've enjoyed our stay at Sky Cottage - it's a wonderful place to unwind! We would strongly recommend the local walks. We've used your little blue book of local walks and walked from Fowey to Polkerris then along the coastal path to Gribbin Head all the way back to Fowey again. It was a tiring day but worth the effort - the scenery was breath taking! We would also recommend a day at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Thanks for the lovely stay, Sue and Paul

April 09
We have really enjoyed our stay at Sky Cottage. Very cosy and loved the wood burning stove. We have enjoyed stunning views on coastal walks around Polruan, Polperro, Tintagel and Port Isaac. Heligan and Lanhydrock were both great days out. Will certainly be recommending Sky Cottage to our friends and family. Hope to return again. Thank you, Rebecca, Ben and Bump!

April 09
Our second wonderful visit to Sky Cottage, a short but wonderful break as good as we remembered. (See volume 1 visitors book). Peaceful and relaxing; we had a great few days, the arrangement for car parking make such a difference. Looking forward to our next visit. Yvonne and John

Feb 09
I just wanted to let you know what a lovely time my husband and I had at Sky Cottage last month. The cottage is really wonderful and so cosy we will surely be recommending it and hopefully will return one day. Cornwall was also fantastic and we had a really great 4 days there. Many thanks again. Kind regards Katie

Cris, thank you so much for such a warm welcome at the cottage.  Your card and wine were a lovely thought and very much appreciated.  The whole atmosphere at Sky Cottage was wonderful and exactly what I needed.  The renovations and decor show how much love has been poured into it and is reflected in the vibes it shares with everyone staying there, so a big BIG thank you for everything!
I will definitely pass on the details of Sky Cottage to friends I know would appreciate it and I hope to enjoy it's charms again later this year. All the best to you and yours - I hope 2009 disproves all the predictions and is a really good year for us all!

Loved our stay here in this beautiful cottage. Had one nice sunny day the rest was dominated by rain but still we don't want to go home. Recommend the Old Ferry Inn at Boddinick for an atmospheric pub and warm welcome and good food too. The walk to Fowey is lovely but don't buy too many things when you get there like we did and had to carry them back up and down muddy footpaths. Just one small point for attention, the gutter over the front door leaks in the rain and splashes are a bit noisy. (Paul on the case) a fantastic relaxing week. Thank you. Dora and Regan.

A lovely village and a cottage that felt like home. The perfect location for 'Der Honeymoon' Steffi and Horst.

Had a lovely stay in the cottage, very comfortable and in a lovely location. Thanks for the arrival treat. Fisherman's Arms great for an evening drink overlooking river. Fowey River trip nice to see up and down river on sunny day. Fish and chips at the Rising Sun pub in St Mawes very good. We had a very rainy week so appreciated the DVD's on two evenings. Hope you all have a lovely stay in this really cute cottage, thanks Karin and Nick

July 08

Loved Sky Cottage, well equipped comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the little garden oasis, read a lot and just relaxed. Eden Project is brilliant for any body any age, gardeners or not. Would interest budding designers and eco warriors. Polperro beautiful harbour but touristy. Polkerris beach nice little cove. Looe, family orientated British beach resort. St Mawes, Falmouth, good scenery, cafes, little shops. Lovely walks locally. Lots of places to eat in Fowey. Readymoney beach good place in Fowey. Would love to come back Denise and Steve. PS nice beach at Gorran Haven and Mevagissey. Really enjoyed our stay at Sky Cottage. The cottage was perfect, beautiful setting, and well equipped and spotless. Parking went well. Thank you for welcoming wine and biscuits, just the job.

A very pretty, clean cottage. The locals are friendly and helpful. A lovely artist lives just across the road at The Studio. Just knock the door ... well worth a look around. Loved our stay, thank you. Lynn and Andy xx

Lovely Cottage in a peaceful spot. Apart from the wet weather we had a lovely time. Please use the firewood we've left behind, our Landrover has broken down so we are unable to take it with us. Many thanks Lesley and John.

Very comfortable stay at Sky Cottage, beautiful spot. V good food at Fisherman's Arms, Globe Inn and Crown Inn - Lanlivery. Lots to see and do in Cornwall. Dennis and Daphne

June 08

This is the most wonderfully tranquil place to spend a holiday. The weather has been very good and we were greeted every morning by the glass - like Eden of the river at the bottom of the hill. We did lots of sight seeing but spent several evenings sitting outside the Fisherman's Arms enjoying a drink and looking at the view - unbeatable! And, best of all, we got engaged while we were here so it was the most perfect holiday ever! Colin and Fiona

Enjoyed our week down here, delightful cottage and lovely decor. A bigger teapot would be great. (Cris is on the case) enjoyed walking over to Fowey and the coastal path to Polperro which is pretty but spoilt by tacky commercialism. Lanhydrock house was very enjoyable but the Eden Project was very busy. Great meals at the Cormorant and Rick Stein's Bistro in Padstow. Also cream tea at the Little Bistro Hotel on the Esplanade in Fowey on a terrace overlooking the river - heavenly. All in all a good week, Jane and Phil .

Another perfect week at Sky Cottage. As last year, weather was amazing and we were able to start every day with leisurely breakfast in the garden. Cottage wonderful. Apart from many visits to the beach (swimming) we had lovely coastal walks. We discovered Menabilly this year, and did some walking on the coastal path. Our fave beach still Caerhayes, probably because it's so quiet at this time of year. Golant and cottage perfect, and for eating out, yes Sam's, Pinky Murphy's, Rashleigh Arms in Polkerris, Trevithans in Lostwithiel, and of course, the Cormorant. Still lots of new things to do so we'll be back. Wendy and Peter.

May 08

After a perfect wedding we had a perfect Honeymoon at Sky Cottage. It was better than we could ever have hoped, a beautiful place to stay and in a gorgeous village. We also fell in love with Fowey and the Dwelling House is a must for afternoon tea. Also the Eden Project, Port Isaac and Padstow are not to be missed, especially Rick Stein's fish and chips. Thank you for a fantastic week and we look forward to our return visit. Roz and James Windsor xx

We've had another lovely week in Golant and Sky Cottage is gorgeous as ever. We've enjoyed some lovely coastal walks particularly from Polruan coming back through the picturesque Pont and around Gribbin Head. I love the beaches at Polridmouth and the parking at Hambland is just 40p. The food service and views from the Fisherman's Arms Golant, was great as usual despite new management. We had a fantastic meal at Sam's, Fowey, with brilliant atmosphere. It's really a must if you love seafood and there's a good selection if you don't. Thank you. Petrina and Edward.

Cottage just about perfect more than we dared hope for. Clean, cosy and warm with a great shower and we love D Dodridge 2004 in the bedroom. We agree with previous comments, Fisherman's Arms could not be more friendly, in fact the whole village. Tiffin's - great food shame about the service, Sam's - brilliant service and atmosphere, just watch the waistline! Check out Port Isaac, just avoid the film crews, it's really pretty. Rick's fish and chips and pasties are pricey but the best and try the walk to Stepper Point and view of Padstow Bay. If you have time the walks and views between Botallack and Gurnards Head just take your breath away. We had a great holiday here, hope you do too. Mike and Cilla (who are returning in October!)

April 08

Four days is definitely not long enough in a place like this, we've had such a wonderful time! Sky cottage has been the perfect base, and we found ourselves at the Eden Project, Heligan, Newquay, Mevagissey and Truro all in 48 hours! Good things certainly come in small packages and we will be revisiting the cottage as soon as we can escape the city again. It has been a relaxing stay, and we have felt very welcome indeed (especially with the wine and shortbread) Will and Lucy xx

March 08

A great week - thank you so much, have fallen in love with the cottage and surroundings. Wonderful coastal walks, lots of rest and relaxation, time to read and too much fine food! Off home to the Midlands feeling totally revitalised. Will be back if you'll have us. Thank you too for the welcoming touches especially the Easter Bunnies! Michelle and Steve x

Phew just arrived - luxury. The sun is shining like mad so I'm off for a walk to Fowey. Looe in the late afternoon , sun is gorgeous, lots of regeneration going on and you can see where Echo Beach has been filmed. Have a great holiday ,Cris

What a fantastic Valentine's surprise! "Don't get better than this" We have felt it was home from home , thank you. Ray and Jane

Christmas 07

What a fabulous week we've had. The perfect holiday - muddy walk to Fowey, great fish pie at the pub ... heaven ... Cris and Paul

Oct 07

Sky Cottage is just perfect! Quaint, romantic, secluded - just what we needed (and very well equipped). Would recommend: Fowey - fab unusual shops. Boscastle - interesting to see how they've rebuilt it. Mousehole - very small but quaint. Not so keen on: Mevagissey - shops a bit tacky 'seasidey'. Lands End - too touristy. Love Cornwall (Kent)

Sept - Oct 07

We've had a lovely week. The cottage is beautiful it's everything we had hoped for and more! Many thanks for all the little extras that made our stay even more special. The village is so pretty and everyone very friendly. If you love walking and like beautiful views we would recommend the coastal walk around Lizard Point and Dodman Point. Other highlights : Lost gardens of Heligan, Boscastle, Mousehole, Fowey, Polperro and Padstow but only for the fish and chips! Hope to be back soon.

Sept 07

An excellent week, plenty to do and a really good base. Had a couple of meals at Fisherman's Arms (in Golant), very good just be prepared to order early as they may stop taking orders. Highlights Barbara Hepworth ** museum St Ives. Eden Project **, Mevagissey, Truro, Charlestown (Lincs)

Fantastic holiday! Thank you for a delightful cottage, it had everything we could have needed. Highly recommend Sam's in Fowey for dinner and the Fisherman's Arms (in Golant). Rick Stein's Cafe in Padstow was lovely and you don't have to book for lunch. Went on some fantastic coastal walks - would recommend St Agnes Beacon and the walk round the Roseland peninsular near St Mawes. If you're going to get a taxi into Fowey, we'd recommend Fowey Taxis - very reliable. Thanks for a great time.

Wonderful cottage, peaceful location. Just right to get away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Always fans of Cornwall and its hospitality, Sky Cottage did not disappoint.

Aug - Sept 07

Very homely cottage, could stay here for another week. Would highly recommend the Saint's Way to Fowey and then the ferry to Mevagissey. You can walk from there to the Lost Gardens of Heligan which are a must see. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Aug 07

Beautiful cottage, very well done. Village is lovely and quiet, locals friendly also. The walk to Fowey was wonderful and the church is worth a visit. Plenty of places to visit, all close too, we had an excellent time, would come again.

Thank you for a lovely week! Weather was beautiful - perfect for relaxing on the patio! Spent much time pottering in Fowey - The Galleon was well worth a visit for lunch and The Fisherman's Arms (in Golant) was as good as its recommendations. Cottage was more than we could have hoped for, thank you so much.

Jul - Aug 07

Fantastic holiday!! Cottage really nice and comfortable. Weather fantastic - good for walking to Fowey. Eden Project really close by - well worth a visit, good food. Hope to return again.

July 07

Thank you for your warm welcome in lovely Sky Cottage. We enjoyed our time and we were lucky about the weather facing the flood catastrophe all around. Fisherman's Arms (Golant) and Pinky Murphy's (Fowey) both worth more than one visit! The cottage was everything we hoped for and more.

May 07

Many thanks, Sky Cottage met all our expectations and we've had a wonderful few days. We wont tell all our friends because we'd like to come back!

April 07

Easter Everything a Cornish holiday cottage should be! Great Stay, great weather and great coast walking. We second the previous comment that the Blue Peter pub in Polperro should not be missed. Nor should Rick Stein's fish and chips in Padstow.

Just to say that we had a fantastic time last week at Sky Cottage. We both thought the cottage was superb and will certainly be going back one day and also recommending it to all our friends and family.

We would also like to thank you for the lovely card and wine and biscuits, they were very much appreciated, especially the wine which was drunk that afternoon on the patio! The car parking space was very much appreciated also, I don't know how other people manage in some of the other cottages. We were very, very lucky with the weather which enabled us to do lots of coastal walks plus sightseeing but also lovely to come home to the cottage in the evening after a long day out. Just to say thank you once again and hopefully we will be back maybe next year. (Winchester) (email)

March 07

30/3    We've had the most lovely relaxing few days here in Golant, so peaceful. We thought the cottage was very homely and thank you for the welcoming touches. Hope to come again.

Just a quick email to say that we had a lovely time in the cottage, it is a truly special little place and the area was wonderful. Thank you for making a weekend away so easy for us and I am sure that we will be back.

New Year 07 Felt like home as soon as arrived. Really lovely cottage and setting. Appreciated extra touches on arrival - if more places had these standards, fewer people would go abroad. Nice little walks to be had at Lerryn. Will definitely recommend the area and this cottage to others. Thanks.

December 06

Christmas ... Came to Golant to get away from Christmas and have had the most fabulous break. The cottage and village are everything that we could have wished for. The 'little extras' that are provided in the cottage made it really special. We hope to return in the summer. Back home for New Year ... don't want to go! Happy New Year xxx Would just like to add that the Fisherman's is very welcoming. Our first night coincided with Xmas Draw Night and we walked away with a crate of beer! If any future visitors go to Polperro the Blue Peter pub is a must. The cottage was everything we hoped for and more.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Lovely walk to Fowey and very friendly locals. We'll be back.

Can I just say to everyone. It is us who should be saying thank you to you all for staying. You have all made it possible for us to maintain and keep Sky Cottage to such a high standard. We visit often and have many friends in the village. It is a piece of heaven for us and we love sharing it with all our guests. There has never been any damage , thank you for your great care, and everyone has been a joy to interact with for bookings.

Thank you all so much. . . And many more to come. . .

With best wishes from Cris & Paul
