Cornish Blue Cottage is a delightful detached cottage available for the perfect holiday getaway, right in the heart of Bodmin Moor and only 15 minutes walk from Siblyback Lake with all its sporting facilities, trails and cafe. Located in the beautiful village of Common Moor, Cornish Blue is currently under renovation. It is said to date back 500 years and already built when the mining community of once named Pilla Moor was created. Cornish Blue Cottage sleeps two people, in a pretty, light and airy bedroom with a view across farmland and the Moor. A cosy lounge with oak floor, wood-burner and lovely sofa has French doors leading onto the wonderful sheltered south facing patio. With a separate kitchen and dining area, the gorgeous lounge, with fire, is fantastic in winter too, FREE dry logs are provided. Cornish Blue Cottage has double glazed windows throughout with radiators in every room so even without the fire lit you will be warm and cosy after your walk across the moors or day on the beach.

Common Moor used to be called Pilla Moor which means Great Moor. The village developed in the early 19th Century when there was a boom in tin and copper mining in the surrounding Cardon Hills and area. Cornish Blue Cottage started as a crude dwelling over 500 years ago (we cannot verify this at the moment but are trying to!!) There are miles and miles of fantastic moorland walks, fishing at Siblyback Lake, boat hire and windsurfing (including lessons)

This is the view from the bedroom whilst you have a lie-in! Thick lined curtains keep the morning sun out if you want a lie in, otherwise let it stream in.

The 'main' road from Common Moor to St Neot is a typical Cornish lane with hedge rows covered in wild flowers and everywhere teeming with wildlife. Seeing a deer on the moor is a real thrill.

Walking to Siblyback lake takes you on a wonderful trail and across moorland fields over this style to the lake itself with 3.5km walk around it (flat).

Close by is the Cheesewring - natural rock piles on the top of the moor near the disused Cheesewring granite quarry, they are an amazing site. Back to Minions for a cream tea, via The Hurlers, the Cornish answer to Stonehenge
The very beautiful Cornish town of Launceston is only about 14 miles away, and well worth a visit. We often stop for lunch on our journey to and from Cornish Blue Cottage.

Sterts Theatre, 5 miles approx, is almost outdoors, as you can see, and open for Summer performances
